The carpet was first unveiled in Tehran’s Mosalla, in a public ceremony attended by Emirati officials and the Iran Carpet Company management board and staff. The unveiling was followed by a special concert featuring the music of the legendary Persian singer and composer Habib Nayeb.

When the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was being built, the government of Abu Dhabi sought artistic commissions from all over the globe that incorporated creative marble, gold, stone, and crystal and ceramic work in a dazzling mosaic of global creativity. In recognition of its rich carpet weaving history, Iran offered a large rug for the mosque’s main prayer hall.
